Who we are

Our shop is located at 2717 East Parkway just outside of downtown Gatlinburg. We share a lot with Green’s Grocery and Mercantile so you can grab some snacks while you watch us carve. Our hours are 9-5 just about every day, although sometimes we’ll close early to go out and explore the mountains or hide from bad weather. Someone is generally carving all day so there’s plenty to watch, just be respectful and maintain a safe distance behind the marked areas. Our bears dont bite, but our chainsaws do.

Our main carvers are Charlie and Michael, who you may find hanging around the shop! Charlie’s socials are The Chainsaw Bunny or thechainsawbunny.

We keep a pretty wide selection of different sculptures and styles, and of course we have all the black bears you’re looking for in a variety of poses and forms. You can find anything from small critters, fruit, or flowers to large scale animals or pop culture carvings. We’re always producing new art, so the inventory is constantly changing.

Aftercare Instructions: We primarily use Cedar, Paulownia, or White Pine for all of our carvings so the care process is pretty straight forward. We recommend placing in a shady area, without being in direct contact with the dirt or grass so water cant be soaked up into the log. Something as simple as a concrete block can be placed underneath to create a barrier. Once a spot is picked out, all that is required is a fresh coat of varnish once a year if in a shady area. If the piece is getting full heavy sunlight all day we recommend varnish every 3-4 months. Our wood types don’t rot or split as long as they’re properly maintained, however all logs will have checks (small cracks) in them over time. There isn’t really any way to avoid that unless you use kiln dried and milled lumber, which costs a lot more. Bugs will naturally sometimes decide the log looks like a good place to raise a family, so check every so often and remove them when needed.
